First Due House Fire on North 6th Street

Thursday, February 22, 2024

At 10:10 am, Denton Volunteers along with Greensboro Volunteer Fire Company, Ridgely Volunteer Fire Company, and Federalsburg Volunteer Fire Company were dispatched to a working house fire in the area of North 6th St and Lincoln St. Engine 302 arrived on location to find a 2-story single family dwelling with fire showing from all four sides of the structure and from both floors. Officer 316 (Deputy Fire Chief) established command and Officer 315 (Fire Chief) assumed fire attack. An additional truck company was requested which brought Easton Volunteer Fire Company. Initial reports stated that there were possible people and a dog trapped inside. After further investigation and additional reports, the dwelling was unoccupied and under extensive renovations. Once the fire was extinguished and overhaul was completed, the scene was turned over to the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal to determine the cause of the fire. We would like to say thank you to all the personnel and agencies that assisted DVFC with this incident. Also a thank you to Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Company for providing a stand by crew at our station to handle any other emergencies in our district while we were committed to this fire.

Fire / EMS units on scene: Engine 302, Engine 304, Rescue 300, Utility 300, Command 300, Engine 401, Squad 405, Engine 604, Utility 608, Tower 1, Tower 61, Utility 83, Paramedic 13, Paramedic 10
