At 2:00 pm, Denton Volunteers along with Federalsburg Volunteer Fire Company and Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Company were dispatched for a house fire on Iron Gate Rd in Federalsburg VFC’s first due area. Engine 302 made the response with 5 personnel including the Fire Chief. While responding, the engine crew could see a column of smoke from Rt404 in Denton. With that information and being the only fire suppression piece responding, the Fire Chief requested the tanker task force. Preston Volunteer Fire Company marked up on the radio requesting to run the call with having an engine crew in the station. Engine 302 arrived on location first due to find a one-story single-family dwelling with fire and smoke showing. Officer 315 (Fire Chief) assumed the command and Officer 317 (Assistant Fire Chief) had fire attack. Units operated on the fire ground for about 2 hours and then the scene was turned over to the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal to determine the cause of the fire.
