Station 300 was alerted at 0432 hrs for a structure fire on 7th Street. E-302 arrived to find a 2 1/2 story detatched single family house with fire showing from the basement and heavy smoke from the upper floor windows.
Upon making entry, E-302's crew encountered heavy smoke and fire conditions on the first floor. Due to the floor collapse on the first floor, incoming mutual aid units used ladders to exingush the fire on the upper floors. With the assistance of Companies 400 (Ridgely), 600 (Greensboro), 700 (Goldsboro), 80 (Queen Anne/Hillsboro), 200 (Preston), 100 (Federalsburg), 72 (Bridgeville), 50 (Harrington), 48 (Felton), and PM-13, the fire was extinguished.
E-302 remained on the scene until 1230 assisting the Maryland State Fire Marshal with the investigation. Our thanks to Company 78 (Greenwood) for filling in at Station 300.
