At 0116 hours, volunteers were alerted for the 3-1 box for a building fire. Engine 302 repsponed immediately with 6 volunteers and Officer 317. E-302 secured a hydrant and arrived on the scene to find a 2-1/2 story detached home with heavy fire showing from the 2nd floor on sides A, B and D.
Officer 317 passed command and split the engine crew into two hose line teams, deploying two 1-3/4" attack lines. The first hose team advanced to the fire on the 2nd floor as the second hose team advanced to the 3rd floor. Chief 315 arrived on scene and assumed command.
Tower 310 arrived on scene and assisted the two hose line crews with extinguishing the fire on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Simultaneously, the two technicians and the outside vent man threw 7 ladders to the 2nd floor windows, laddering all 4 sides of the building.
Ridgely (400), Greensboro (600) and Queen Anne/Hillsboro (80) arrived on the scene and assisted with a primary and secondary search, and extensive overhaul of the 2nd and 3rd floors.
Units from Station 300 were on the scene for 3.5 hours. Our appreciation to Preston (200) for providing a standby crew at our station.
