At 5:45 AM on Sunday morning, Caroline County 911 alerted the Denton, Greensboro and Ridgley Volunteer Fire Companies for the structure fire in the 25000 block of Smith Landing Road. Engine 302 from Denton arrived first and encountered a 50’ x 20’ single story building containing living and storage areas with fire through the roof. A tanker task force was requested due to the non-hydrant area, bringing resources from Goldsboro, Queen Anne Hillsboro, Cordova, Farmington (DE) and Clayton (DE). The fire was quickly suppressed and the Maryland State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating. One firefighter suffered minor burns to the back of his neck and was treated and released from the Johns Hopkins Burn Center.
