On Sunday June 30th, 2013, around 12 in the afternoon, Denton Volunteers were alerted for an MVC, head on at Shore Hwy and Breeding Rd near the MD/DE line. Stations 300 and 100, & PM13 were quick to respond. While enroute to the scene, Caroline notified units that MSP was on location, advising a serious head-on collision with multiple entraptments. Chief Doug Higgs arrived and took Shore Hwy command immediately requesting medevac. Rescue 300 worked on 1 car and E304 and Station 100 worked on the other car. Caroline advised both requested medevac units were grounded and Chief 300 immediately requested additional ambulances which came from Greenwood DE. After an approximate 45 min extrication, due to heavy entrapment,10 patients total were transported to local trauma centers. 1 patient later succumbed due to injuries. After a debriefing and cleanup, crews returned to service after about 2 hours being on scene. Chief Higgs wanted to again thank everyone for their efforts on the scene.
