April 12, 2013: At 1016 hrs, Station 300 was alerted to assist Talbot County 80 with an MVC involving Haz Mat. Crews arrived to find two tractor trailers that had collided. One of the rigs hit a guard rail before striking a bridge where it came to rest. The impact caused major damage to the truck including rupturing one of its saddle tanks, causing fuel to spill into the river. Crews from 300 were directed to assist with stopping the leak, this task was unattainable due to the major damage to the tank. Crews then assisted with spill containment and confinement. Numerous other agencies were called in to assist with the spill. The scene was turned over to MDE and units went in service. Chief 80 had the command |
